Looking into the future...
I have a scary feeling....
In ten more years....
This might just be reality!
He looks just a little TOO comfortable!

Skye Update
I have been asked how my dog is doing?
http://thecabbagepatchkids.blogspot.com/2009/12/skye.html
Well, she has made a 90% improvement. It has truly been a miracle the way she has improved. When she first went down, I had thought would not return from the Emergency Vet. I had thought her time had come and at her age, there was nothing they could really do.
Amazingly, TLC w/ lots of rest and encouragement has sprung her back to her old crazy dog ways. She has now rejoined us at the dinner table (not that this was a good thing) stealing what she can when noone is looking, wrestling with our other dog, scratching (to my horror) our carpet, barking persistently at unforeseen enemies, and the most annoying of all licking her paws and floor over and over. The only difference is sometimes her head is cocked at 20 minutes after the hour degree, in a weird sort of angle. She has also decided she prefers to be carried up the steps- but carrying a hefty and stocky 60 pound border collie up a flight of stairs is not the easiest thing for her or me.
Oh and just yesterday, the kids conveniently left the door open and she escaped. In the past, she would have continued to run until she cornered some unwary stranger she could circle and snarl at, found a large creek to wade in, or chased a squirrel up a tree. Instead, when I ran out to look for her, she saw me from about four houses down and ran TOWARDS me!

Traffic Report
Weather: Snow and Ice
Roads: Slick
Traffic Report on the Radio: "Many spin-outs on Interstate..."
..a moment of silence after the report, in the van, and then...
Nikolai (with total excitement): AWESOME!!!!! Spinouts! wrrrrrrr..CRASH!
Seriously, why DO little boys love this stuff?

2010
Christmas came and went in the regular traditional fashion with church, Santa, too many presents and too much food, with the laughter of family and friends, and tired overloaded children.
Before we knew it, New Year's Eve was upon us, but we were all tucked quietly in bed, as 2009 ticked down and 2010 came to be.
2010. It sounds so futuristic- just like a movie title back in the 1980's.
I personally have decided to make it my reality, and run with the prospects of a new year and the amazing new things it will hold.
My first plan of action is health. Although I do not talk of it, my health has not been as good as it should be and I completely blame myself. Sure I am ready to finally lose those extra pounds, but there are other conditions too. I am determined they will get better first and foremost.
My second plan of action is family. Although I would like to be the smiling mom with the perfect children, it is not reality. Nope. Not even close. Instead, we as a family will strive to respect, love and do our chores! We will not yell, fight or leave our dirty clothes on the floor!
My third plan of action is faith and friends. I will take a mmoment each day to pray/meditate and keep in touch with those I love.
My fourth plan of action is to plan. I have a lot of planning to do...vacations, finances, futures, etc...
My fifth plan is to soar. Seize the day. Go with the flow and maybe make some waves!
Welcome 2010!
