The Cabbage Patch Kidz: World Autism Awareness Day: "Today is World Autism Awareness Day.
As a parent of a child that encompasses many of the spectrums of the Autism Rainbow, I feel compelled to talk a little about what it is like.
Having a son that is not typical is sort of like landing on a new planet. A world that is completely new or as a Clincial Social Worker once described my son- very complex!
His planet although similiar to ours is just in another galaxy. Some days it feels like he is light years away and some days he is circling like the moon. It is a world full of wonder and colors, but also hidden trenches that we cannot enter, but he can.
There are days which he may seem very normal, and there are days the differences are vast. As a parent it is very hard to know that normal will probably never be his world. The best I can do is nuture and hope that others can do the same. I can pray that one day that he will have a best friend, maybe find true love, be able to pay bills, have a job, and maybe just maybe, even live on his own."

God bless all of our wonderful children - as unique as they all are...they were created special! God has great and mighty plans for all of His kids!
